1. Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate our service:

• Anonymous usage analytics via our self-hosted Umami instance, including aggregate page/session replay used only to fix bugs and improve navigation: no cookies, no ad trackers, no data sold to third parties
• Your email address when you create an account
• Your in-app preferences such as currency, region, and notification settings

2. How We Use Your Email

We only use your email address for:

• Price drop alerts and notifications you have explicitly opted into
• Account-related communications such as password resets and email verification
• Important security notices related to your account
• We do not send unsolicited marketing emails or newsletters

3. Spam & Bot Protection (Altcha)

We use Altcha for spam and bot protection on our forms. Altcha is a privacy-friendly alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. It works locally in your browser using a proof-of-work challenge: no personal data is sent to third-party servers and no tracking cookies are set.

4. We Do Not Share Your Data

We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your email address and account data are used solely to provide the GameValio service.

• We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers
• Our analytics tool (Umami), including its session replay feature, is self-hosted and is used only to understand and improve site usage, never for advertising
• Links to game stores are provided for your convenience; those stores have their own privacy policies

5. Browser Extension (GameValio for Steam)

Our optional Chrome extension shows GameValio's price recommendation directly on Steam store pages. It is stateless and does not collect any personal data:

• When you view a game page on Steam, the extension reads the Steam App ID from the page URL and sends it, along with your browser's language setting (used only to pick currency and language), to our API to fetch that game's price and recommendation
• The extension stores nothing on your device and sets no cookies; each page view is a fresh, independent request with no history kept
• It works without an account, sign-in, or any personal identifier, so we cannot tie extension requests to a specific person
• Uninstalling the extension immediately stops all data requests

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your settings page, which will permanently remove all your personal data from our systems.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
